Meet the Team

Jessica Breckenridge is the co-founder and attorney of Empower Family Legal, LLC, where she helps Colorado families navigate divorce, custody, and other family law matters with clarity, compassion, and strength.

A graduate of the University of Denver Sturm College of Law, Jessica has dedicated her career to family law—representing clients in a wide range of domestic relations matters across Colorado whose dedication has been recognized by the National Academy of Family Law Attorneys as one of Colorado’s 2025 Top 10 under 40. She is known for her balanced approach: assertive and confident in the courtroom when litigation is necessary, yet deeply committed to helping families find resolution through negotiation and collaboration whenever possible.

Jessica’s practice is rooted in the belief that informed, empowered clients make better long-term decisions for themselves and their families. Her clients appreciate her strategic advocacy, practical advice, and genuine care for their well-being during some of life’s most difficult transitions.

When she’s not practicing law, Jessica enjoys spending time with her family, exploring Colorado’s outdoors, and contributing to her community through mentorship and advocacy for families.

Mary C. Palka
Co-Founder/COO/Paralegal

Mary Palka is Co-Founder, COO, and Paralegal for Empower Family Law. She has four years of operational management and pre-litigation paralegal work within the private law field and is thrilled to apply that knowledge and experience to this exciting new endeavor. Prior to her work in the legal field, Mary worked in management for a large coffee coffee chain where she learned operational excellence, superb customer service, and dedication to detail.

Mary graduated from Arizona State University, summa cum laude, with a Bachelor of Science in Justice Studies in 2020. She then went on to graduate with a Master of Legal Studies (LLM) in Human Resources and Employment Law and Business Law through the Sandra Day O’Connor School of Law at ASU in 2022.

Mary grew up in a large military family as an ARMY Brat, and moved around quite a bit, but calls Colorado home. Having this large family dynamic is what geared Mary toward wanting to provide support and assistance in the Family Law field as she understands that all families are different and have different needs and is understanding to meet all families, individuals, and situations where they are at.

In her free time, Mary spends as much time enjoying everything the mountains and outdoors have to offer. From skiing and snowboarding, to climbing and running she loves to be outside in the sun or snow as much as possible.
